Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity

Every limited edition print from Aethereal Photography is supplied with a personal Certificate of Authenticity. This document confirms that the artwork was created, produced, and signed by me—and that it belongs to a strictly limited edition.

What the Certificate Is

The certificate is an official record that your print is genuine, part of a defined edition, and produced to archival quality. It represents my commitment to craftsmanship and transparency for every collector.

What the Certificate Includes

Each certificate contains:

  • My name as the artist

  • Title of the photograph

  • Edition number written as x / y

  • Total number of prints in the edition

  • Print size and medium

  • Date of issue

  • Place of production in Switzerland

  • My signature

  • A unique reference code for the specific print

  • A serialised hologram sticker attached to the certificate

  • A matching hologram sticker placed on the back of the print

Why It Matters

  • It confirms the authenticity of your artwork

  • It documents the edition size and your exact print number

  • It provides provenance for insurance or future resale

  • It protects the value of your print by reducing risk of unauthorised copies

  • The dual-hologram system ensures that the certificate and the print are uniquely paired

How My Limited Editions Work

  • Each photograph is released in a fixed edition size

  • I personally number and sign each print

  • Once the edition is complete, no further prints of that image are produced in that edition

  • The number written on your print matches the number on your certificate

  • A hologram sticker with a unique serial number is placed on both the certificate and the corresponding print

After Your Purchase

Your certificate is included with your print or sent separately if needed for safe shipping. Please keep it together with your proof of purchase, since both documents form the artwork’s full record.

Care and Display

To maintain the longevity and value of your print:

  • Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture

  • Handle it only by the edges

  • Use archival materials for mounting or storing
Proper care helps preserve colours, contrast and paper quality over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is a Certificate of Authenticity important?
It demonstrates that the print is genuine and created directly by the artist. Collectors value clear documentation, especially for limited editions.

Q: What does limited edition mean in your work?
It means that I have set a specific number of prints for that photograph. Once they are sold, the edition is closed.

Q: Does the certificate always show the edition number?
Yes. Your certificate displays the exact number of your print within the edition, and it matches the handwritten number on the print itself.

Q: What is the purpose of the hologram stickers?
The hologram stickers add an extra layer of security and traceability: one sticker is on the certificate, the matching sticker is on the back of the print. Together they ensure that the certificate and print form a unique pair.

Q: Do you provide certificates for open edition prints?
No. Certificates and holograms are reserved for limited edition artworks. If you choose an open edition print, I can provide basic information upon request—but not a numbered certificate with hologram.

Q: How can I verify my print in the future?
You can contact me directly with the reference code printed on your certificate, and I will confirm the details of your edition and print number.
